Mama Nana & Pickney Social Group
This project launches October 1st 2008. The MNP social network targets mothers and grandmothers in the African and Caribbean community who are looking to develop a social network in the city. The group will plan trips and social events as well as meet up outside of regular working hours at various venues in and out of the city . The aim of MNP is to build friendships and create a support network for mothers, grandmothers and female guardians of black and dual heritage children, reducing isolation among the women and their children. MNP is open to all women with children but activities will be culturally geared towards African and Caribbean cultures. Activities are planned weekly for mothers, grandmothers and children. Children must be at least 12 months old and must be supervised by their mother/ grandmother or guardian during social meetings/ events. To join this group contact the chairperson, Kala Williams on 07920142594!
Cov EthniCITY Website
The Coventry EthniCITY Website will provide unique links between ethnic minority communities and local voluntary and community focussed businesses in Coventry and beyond. The site will give Ethnic Minorities an online voice to discuss serious issues impacting on their quality of life while providing an effective gateway to relevant services that can effect change. The website will feature profiles on Ethnic Minorities in Coventry who have achieved success socially, professionally or in communities giving particular attention to newly arrived migrants.
All are invited to participate in this project through either volunteering to build the website or by submitting profiles of Ethnic Minorites they think should be featured below. It is important to note that we shall be photographing and possibly interviewing some nominees.
