Aims and Objectives
 
Coventry Growth Initiatives (CGI) is a not for profit organisation based on a network of highly skilled/ academically qualified ethnic minorities who are connected with or residing in Coventry . The Organisation implements ethnic minority focussed initiatives primarily to those in need.
 
 

The group will fulfil the aims by:

 

  • Implementing projects of charitable cause to communities primarily within the West Midlands that are led by members of the organisation.
  • Providing training and organising advice sessions to raise awareness around minority issues.
  • Acting as a community based think tank on minority issues impacting on living, working and developing in Coventry in order to inform processes on a strategic level in the city.

     
Coventry Growth Initiatives was founded by the Chairperson, Kala Williams. The organisation's Secretary, Anna Khmelnitski, and Vice Chair Haja Wurie who also oversees Web Development, were later recruited as officers. Omoniyi Adewole has also been recruited to join the board as a qualified statistician overseeing consultation processes for CGI. All of our EC members have a passion for community work and have worked to aid in the empowerment of many communities of Coventry and beyond.
 
The organisation particularly empowers young aspiring social entrepreneurs and community leaders by providing them with the experience and best practice training and exposure needed to propel them on to enhanced careers and self-employment. Coventry Growth Initiatives is about meeting community challenges with creative mechanisms that are many times 'out of the box' while delivering services at a consistently high standard to address community needs. The organisation's membership is open to anyone with a connection to Coventry and particularly welcomes Ethnic Minority Graduates with a passion for serving the community.
 
There are also volunteers actively engaging in the project from Coventry and beyond. This includes a virtual team of volunteers who provide charitable services to Coventry Growth Initiatives. Please click here for our volunteer profiles.
